Colleges are hiring, but do people want to work there?

From The Chronicle of Higher Education: “In an effort to cut costs, an institution may have laid off hourly workers or not done a particularly good job of protecting them from a deadly virus. They may have outsourced to a vendor with a track record of poor labor practices. Hourly workers may not be in a rush to return to colleges after these experiences. At the same time, an institution may have pursued an aggressive enrollment-growth strategy to generate additional revenues without investing in enough mental-health professionals. And it’s possible for both of these things to be happening in different parts of the same institution. Two sides of the same austerity coin — heads and tails both leading to workers who don’t feel colleges have cared for them.”
