60% of UK academics set to quit within 5 years – survey

From University World News: “Industrial disputes and ongoing strikes that have dragged on for years in universities in the United Kingdom have damaged morale among higher education staff – but even British academic union leader Dr Jo Grady was surprised by a survey of members which showed 60% of respondents likely to leave the sector within the next five years. The figure was even higher among younger members of staff, aged between 18 and 29, with 81% saying they were likely to look for work elsewhere because of deteriorating pay and working conditions.
