As 2025’s Demographic Cliff Looms, How Far Will College Enrollment Fall?
From Forbes: “A report from the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education indicates that the number of high school graduates will peak at between 3.8 and 3.9 million in 2025 and then begin a gradual descent that will result in about 13% fewer graduates by 2041. … The number of high school graduates will decline in 38 states. Compared to 2023, 38 states will see a decline, while only 12 states and the District of Columbia are projected to see increases in the total number of high school graduates by 2041. Eight states will see a decline of 20% of greater over the years — Hawaii (33%), Illinois (32%), California (29%), New York (27%), West Virginia (26%), Wyoming (23%), New Mexico (21%), and Michigan (20%).”
