Ed. dept. should keep closer tabs on deals with online-program managers, watchdog says
From The Chronicle of Higher Education: “The U.S. Government Accountability Office on Thursday released a report underscoring the need for more robust monitoring of third-party online-program managers (OPMs), to assure their partnerships with U.S. colleges don’t run afoul of federal law. … the GAO’s report, which was initially requested by Sen. Patty Murray, Democrat of Washington, found that it’s been difficult for the federal government to monitor whether all of these partnerships are actually playing by those rules. The Education Department, in fact, doesn’t even know how many college-OPM contracts exist.”
