Inflation swells tuition prices

From Inside Higher Ed: “College tuition largely held steady during the pandemic. Now rampant inflation is pushing tuition costs up, with some institutions approving steep increases unseen since the recession of 2008. … And while colleges may be paying more for things like fuel, utilities, food, health care and other essentials, some experts note that increasing tuition will only go so far in relieving cost pressures caused by inflation … ‘Rarely do tuition increases cover all the costs that are expected, which will mean reductions in other areas to do what institutions feel are the basic essentials that they need to get done,’ said Jim Hundrieser, vice president of consulting services for the National Association of College and University Business Officers.”
