Student loan system ‘out of control’ as graduates leave uni with £100k to repay

From The Mirror: “More students are leaving university with crippling debts of over £100,000. … And figures acquired by the Sunday Mirror reveal 4.5 million students have debts totalling £100BILLION. Christopher McGovern, of the Campaign for Real Education warned: ‘The student debt crisis is a runaway train. It is completely out of control.’ ‘We need to cut courses by 50% and restore grants for those who can genuinely benefit from a degree course.’ The biggest debt on record is £142,662, which could be subject to monthly interest of £665. Another student owes £134,253 and eight have debts of more than £120,000.”
