Prioritizing Web Content and Accessibility for Covia
For over 50 years, Covia has cultivated healthy communities that promote positive aging across the full continuum of independent and assisted living. Covia’s offerings include life plan communities, affordable housing options for seniors, and community programs open to residents and non-residents alike.
The Challenge
Develop a new website, reflecting Covia’s status as a category leader, with a greater emphasis on accessibility and user experience. Enable potential residents to find the Covia offerings that meet their needs and budget during a pandemic that limited in-person visits.
The Solution
Kiosk undertook a competitive analysis to identify key areas of content development, with the goal of telling a more compelling and comprehensive story about Covia’s offerings. We rethought the user experience and site navigation, with more clarity around different residential offerings, and new site features spotlighting Covia’s programs that cater to the broader community. And with Covia’s target audience in mind, we paid particular attention to accessibility best practices, such as font sizing, color contrast and code optimized for screen reading software.
The Results
While senior living organizations were facing unique challenges around the pandemic, Kiosk was able to help Covia effectively tell their story and merchandise their offering online at a time when in-person visits were limited. In the first month after the site launched, user engagement improved with pageviews up 28%, and site performance became snappier with a 25% decrease in average page load time.
